READING/ELA/SCIENCE~ Our essential question this week is "How do people figure things out?" The genre this week will be poetry. We will be reading different kinds of poetry and understanding alliteration, rhyme and similes.
The children should be completing reading using the website Raz-Kids each day to help improve their reading skills. The log in information for each child is taped in their homework notebook. This is a requirement and I will be looking at their progress.

SPELLING~ Our spelling words will contain digraphs. They will be assessed on Friday, January 19.

GRAMMAR~ We will continue our study of nouns.

MATH~ This week we will be completing chapter 4. The children will be reviewing all the concepts in preparation for our assessment on Friday, January 19. We will also be doing activities to become more fluent. Part of the children's homework each night will be to use flashcards to practice their multiplication facts. They should be studying them EACH night for at least 10 minutes. Beginning Thursday, the children will be having times tests to assess their knowledge of their facts. This weeks facts that will be tested will be 0-5.

SOCIAL STUDIES~  The children should be working on their community project that will be due the end of January.

RELIGION~ We will continue chapter 3 about how Jesus will come again. We will be learning about the Great Commandment and how we can put it into practice each day to show our love for others and God.

Have a wonderful week!!
