READING/ELA/SS~ Our essential question this week is "What do good citizens do?" We will be reading biographies of people who are examples of good citizens. Our comprehension skills this week will include asking questions while reading and using details from the story to understand the author's point of view.
It is very important that the children read every night. Their progress on Raz-Kids will be checked.

SPELLING~ Our words this week will contain inflectional endings (y to i). They will be assessed on Friday, May 25.

~ We will be learning about possessive nouns.

SCIENCE~We will be recognizing how slow and fast land changes change the earth's surface.

MATH~ We will complete chapter 9. This week we will be reviewing for our assessment using fraction puzzles and other manipulatives. Our assessment will be on Thursday, May 24.
We will continue doing activities to become more fluent in multiplication and division. Part of the children's homework each night will be to use flashcards to practice their multiplication facts. They should be studying them EACH night for at least 10 minutes. The children will be having timed tests each week to assess their knowledge of their facts. Our fact quizzes will no longer be announced.

RELIGION~ We will begin chapter 10 about prayer. The children will recognize how Jesus taught his followers to pray. We will recognize that prayer is talking and listening to God, and that we can pray along or in a group.

SOCIAL STUDIES~ We will begin chapter 5. This week we will be identifying the regions of the United States.

Have a wonderful week!
