My name is Ms. Lauren Merola. I have my M.S. Ed. in Literacy Education from Long Island University in Brentwood and my B.A. in Child Study from St. Joseph's College in Patchogue. I have been teaching for nine years and have worked in both the primary and intermediate grades. Prior to starting at Notre Dame School, I was a Literacy Specialist for K-6 in the Elmont Union Free School District for two years.

Kindergarten holds a special place in my heart though!! I am very excited about starting my third year as part of the Notre Dame community!!!! I look forward to a fun and exciting year of growing and learning together!!!

November 22nd, 2017:
Happy November!!! It's hard to believe how quickly the first two months of the school year have gone by!! It was a busy week of learning, playing, and having fun in K-1!! We read a book about Thanksgiving, we learned our eleventh letter of the week, the Letter "Dd", and reviewed our first ten sight words (I, am, the, little, a, to, have, is, my, we). We also learned a new sight word: like. In Math, we continued our unit/chapter on Comparing Numbers to 5. We learned more about Thanksgiving in Social Studies. In addition, we shared our Tom Turkey projects with K-2, we celebrated Thanksgiving by making a craft, enjoying some treats, and performing our Thanksgiving song, and we attended a Thanksgiving prayer service with our school.
