"Teachers Plant the Seeds of Knowledge that Last a Lifetime."

My name is Ms. Lauren Merola. I have my M.S. Ed. in Literacy Education from Long Island University in Brentwood and my B.A. in Child Study from St. Joseph's College in Patchogue. I have been teaching for nine years and have worked in both the primary and intermediate grades. Prior to starting at Notre Dame School, I was a Literacy Specialist for K-6 in the Elmont Union Free School District for two years.

Kindergarten holds a special place in my heart though!! I am very excited about starting my third year as part of the Notre Dame community!!!! I look forward to a fun and exciting year of growing and learning together!!!

April 22nd, 2018:
Happy April!! It's hard to believe that first grade is around the corner!! It was a busy week of learning, playing, and having fun in K-1!! We read a book about spring and all that God has created for us from A-Z, we learned our next letter of the week, the Letter "Oo," (Long) and reviewed our first twenty six sight words (I, am, the, little, a, to, have, is, my, we, like, he, for, with, me, see, look, they, you, of, are, one, two, three, four, five). In Math, we continued our chapter on Numbers 20 and Beyond. In Science, we learned about how carrots grow and baby lambs. In Social Studies, we learned more about Earth Day. In Religion, we learned about Mary and how God chose her to be Jesus' mother. In addition, we completed a craft and writing piece for Earth Day on how we can help the earth.
