Hello and Welcome to K-1!!

"Teachers Plant the Seeds of Knowledge that Last a Lifetime."

My name is Ms. Lauren Merola. I have my M.S. Ed. in Literacy Education from Long Island University in Brentwood and my B.A. in Child Study from St. Joseph's College in Patchogue. I have been teaching for nine years and have worked in both the primary and intermediate grades. Prior to starting at Notre Dame School, I was a Literacy Specialist for K-6 in the Elmont Union Free School District for two years.

Kindergarten holds a special place in my heart though!! I am very excited about starting my third year as part of the Notre Dame community!!!! I look forward to a fun and exciting year of growing and learning together!!!

September 21, 2017:
Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!! It was a busy week of learning, playing, and having fun in K-1!! We read a book about friends and we discussed what a friend is and how we can be a good friend, we learned our second letter of the week, the Letter "Mm,", and reviewed our first two sight words (I, am). We also learned more about squares and also triangles and rectangles in Math, school rules and being kind in Social Studies, and how God created the world and various gifts for us in Religion. In addition, we attended a prayer service for Hurricanes Harvey and Irma with our school, took our class and individual pictures, and made All About Me crafts.

Here are some important dates for this week:

Friday, September 22nd: PAVE Dress-Down Day for Hurricane Relief: Your generosity is greatly appreciated!!!!!

Thursday, September 28th: Class Captain Meeting: 7:30: Library
