Hello and Welcome to K-1!!
My name is Ms. Lauren Merola. I have my M.S. Ed. in Literacy Education from Long Island University in Brentwood and my B.A. in Child Study from St. Joseph's College in Patchogue. I have been teaching for almost eight years and have worked in both the primary and intermediate grades. Prior to starting at Notre Dame School, I was a Literacy Specialist for K-6 in the Elmont Union Free School District for two years.
Kindergarten holds a special place in my heart though!! I am very excited about starting my second year as part of the Notre Dame community!!!! I look forward to a fun and exciting year of growing and learning together!!!
February 12th, 2017:
Happy February!!!! It's hard to believe that we are more than halfway through the school year!! We have learned so many wonderful and interesting things so far in kindergarten!!!! We are continuing to learn and practice our letters, their sounds, and sight words so we can become better readers. We are working in our journals and our handwriting books every week to practice our writing. In Math, we are continuing learning how to represent and count numbers to 10. In Religion, we are learning about how God made people. This was a short week due to the blizzard. Stay safe and warm!! God's blessings to all!! :)
