My name is Ms. Lauren Merola. I have my M.S. Ed. in Literacy Education from Long Island University in Brentwood and my B.A. in Child Study from St. Joseph's College in Patchogue. I have been teaching for nine years and have worked in both the primary and intermediate grades. Prior to starting at Notre Dame School, I was a Literacy Specialist for K-6 in the Elmont Union Free School District for two years.

Kindergarten holds a special place in my heart though!! I am very excited about starting my third year as part of the Notre Dame community!!!! I look forward to a fun and exciting year of growing and learning together!!!

February 11th, 2018:
Happy February!!!! It's hard to believe that we are more than halfway through the school year!! It was a busy week of learning, playing, and having fun in K-1!! We read a book about making a dinosaur discovery, we learned our twenty-first letter of the week, the Letter "Qq", and reviewed our first sixteen sight words (I, am, the, little, a, to, have, is, my, we, like, he, for, with, me, see). We also learned a new sight word: look. In Math, we continued our unit/chapter on Addition. In Science, we learned about people and different animals' teeth and how parts of their body can look like a heart. In Religion, we learned about how God made us. In addition, we made a Valentine's Day craft about God's love. For more information, please click on "Last Week in K-1."
