    •          About Notre Dame School

Notre Dame School is a close-knit, caring community marked by committed teachers and a culture of academic excellence. We offer state-of-the-art technology, a choice of four languages, and have uniquely small class size, so every student gets the attention s/he deserves. Our dynamic pastor engages with our school daily to support our students and families. At Notre Dame, we pride ourselves on being one family, something that is evident from the moment you enter our building.

    • What You Can Expect at Our School:

      • Culture – Our school cultivates a robustly Catholic Culture centered on the spiritual, intellectual, sacramental, and liturgical life of the Church.

      • Supportive Community – Our school provides a safe and supportive community that recognizes the dignity of every student and promotes individual growth in a family-centered atmosphere.

      • Academic Excellence – Our school offers academic excellence, which will foster in your child individual growth and development, according to time-tested models of teaching and learning.

    • How Our School Responded to COVID-19 and Thrived in Difficult Times:

      • Technology – During the lockdown of 2020-2021, we quickly provided tools for remote learning to our students. When students at other schools struggled, the students at our school excelled.

      • Servant Leadership – In 2020-2021, our teachers believed students and families were their #1 priority making sure each student received classwork and support in the most challenging of circumstances. Now, they continue to make students and families their #1 priority.

      • Safe Classroom Learning – We all know that young students learn better in a classroom with their peers. We have an impressive student-to-teacher ratio and spacious classrooms. This allowed us to bring back all students for full 5-day in-person learning for the 2020-2021 school year when most schools in Long Island remained closed. For the 2022-2023 school year, our students have tremendous momentum.

    • What are your school’s academic offerings?

      • We offer two Regents level classes.
      • All students in Grade 8 take Living Environment.  Students are invited to test into Algebra 1.
      • We follow the NYS learning standards.  Our expectation is for every student to do his/her own best.  Our work is demanding and students are expected to rise to the challenge.  We utilize i-Ready and students are expected to work on their Math and Reading.
      • We offer 4 languages  Spanish, French, Italian, and Latin.  We offer immersion Italian to N-Grade 1.  Students in Grade 2 and up, select their language of choice.
      • We have 1:1 devices in grades 3 through 8 using Chrome Books.   iPads are utilized Kinder through 2.
    • Does your school offer sports?

We offer CYO sports! Boys' and girls' basketball, girls' volleyball, swimming, and track.  We also participate in the Catholic Middle School Athletic league for girls' volleyball and boys' basketball. Additionally, any student at Notre Dame regardless of where s/he lives, may join NHP teams in baseball, softball, and soccer.

    • What are your class sizes? How does this compare to public schools in the area?

Public schools in our area have average class sizes of 30-40 students. Our classes range from 15-20 students, with two classes per grade.

    • What options do you have for tuition? Scholarships?

Tuition is paid monthly over ten months.  Scholarships are offered through the Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation. If you have extenuating circumstances, please reach out for a meeting with our pastor and principal.

    • How many of your 8th graders go on to top schools?

We have 100% acceptance into Catholic High Schools. Our 8th graders earned 400,000+ in high school scholarships this year!

    • Does your school offer Before Care and Aftercare?

      • Before Care is usually Nursery-PK. Aftercare is PK to 8th grade. The fee for either is $8.00 per hour.  We bill on the half-hour.
      • An advantage to our after-care is that a family does not have to commit to a particular day of the week, but may use the program as needed.
      • We provide a safe environment with teachers available to assist in completion of homework.  The students play games and play outside as weather permits.
      • In emergencies, we support families with Before Care and Aftercare.
    • Tell me about extracurricular activities.

We offer a wide variety of afterschool activities in a twice per year cycle.

      • First LEGO League
      • Mock Trial
      • Newspaper*
      • Chess
      • Math Olympiads
      • Open Gym
      • Dodgeball
