Educating Hearts and Minds for
More than Sixty-Five Years
We are very excited for our month of January in Pre-K! When we came back in the New Year, we began learning about our 5 senses. Everyday, we explored one of our sense and why it is so important. We played I spy, practiced our listening with a guessing game, painted with scented paints, made a tasting chart, and played a guessing game based on touch. We're becoming experts on our senses everyday. After, we learned all about winter. We started by discussing hibernating animals. We made projects everyday based on animals that hibernate all winter long. We learned about artic animals and how they live in such cold climates. We learned about the actual winter season, like how we dress in the winter, what the weather does and what months are included in the winter. We learned about snow and followed the steps to make a snowman in class with our own fake snow we made. We learned how ice melts with frozen paint As the paint melted we were able to make our own paintings with the snow.
In February, we will start by learning about keeping our body healthy! We will learn about fruits and vegetables, stopping ourselves from spreading germs, and excersizing everyday! We will even do an experiment were we combine hand stanitizer with our fake germs (glitter) and watch as we touch our backpacks, glue sticks, and crayons what happens if we don't wash our hands enough. After, we will learn about Valentine's Day. We will do a bunch of themed crafts and use hearts for a lot of our math lessons that week. We will end the week with a Valentine's Day celebration. When we come back from winter break we will learn all about keeping our smiles bright and clean!
We will continue practicing our math skills with pattern work, number recognition, counting, and shapes. We will continue with our letter work with the letters Qq, Rr, and Ss. We will work on letter recognition, formation, and sound.
There are some things we work on everyday in Pre-K 3, no matter what the theme. This includes the calender, Pledge of Allegience, the weather report, counting, the whole alphabet, following directions, taking turns, sharing with our friends, and listening to the teacher. We play as many games as possible to practice being good friends and our listening skills.
